When getting started, you can start with 19x19 board of full size or 9x9 board of mini size. It is your preference. If you start with 9x9 board, please use the robot match of “Mini Go Online”. It will be good to start with 30K and move to 19x19 board around 25K.
Go is a game that competes for the number of territories. The intersection of a line and a line is counted as “1”. In the figure below, black territories are 60 and white territories are 50. It is added 6.5 komi (handicap) to White of second move, and the result is Black wins by 3.5. If you take opponent's stones during the match, the number of stones is subtracted from the opponent's territories. For example, if White took 4 black stones, black territories will be 56 and white territories will be 50. Adding komi, it will be White wins by 0.5.
You can take by blocking all the top, bottom, left and right of opponent's stones. In addition, the state that can be taken by one more move is called “atari”.
Places of “×” are surrounded by white stones, and when Black moves, own stones are taken. You cannot move to places such as this.
Places of “・” are also surrounded by white stones, but Black can take opponent's stones. You can move to places such as this.
If it returns to the same shape, it cannot be taken back immediately after it is taken. This state is called “ko”.
There are shapes that can never be taken. There are two eyes.
If Black or White move to places of “・”, own stones become “atari”, so they cannot move. This state is called “seki”.
Please fill in all spaces such as “・” that between black territories and white territories, and confirm the border of territories. The judgment of territories is started by both passes.
Stones such as “◎” remaining in opponent's territories are treated as taken stones. It is not necessary to take during the match.
It is introduction of the basic way of thinking of opening preparation. First, nine black points on Go board are called “star points”. These are used as guides for preparation, and also these are places to place stones in handicap games.
In most cases, first 4 moves are moved to 4 corners. In addition, they are moved as the figure below.
After the 5th move, there are various choices. You can move near opponent's stones to wait and see, or move near own stones to strengthen, or move around star points on empty sides to expand territories. The figure below is an example of wait-and-see and strengthening.
Lines of Go board are called “1st line” “2nd line” from the outside. Good places for opening preparation are “3rd line” “4th line”. If you move to “1st line” “2nd line”, they will be few territories. In addition, if you move more than “5th line”, they will be difficult to consolidate a territory.
There are efficient places to make territories. The figure below shows same size territories made in the corner, side and center, but the number of stones used is different. The corner with the fewest number of stones is the most efficient. The side is next, and the center is last.
